Operation of an interstate university through an agent

Introduction

Under the Higher Education (General Provisions) Act 2003, an interstate university must not operate under an agency arrangement in Queensland without the Minister's approval.

Queensland process for approval

The Act does not require an interstate university to seek accreditation by the Minister of the higher education courses it offers in Queensland, as universities are self-accrediting institutions under their enabling legislation. However, to gain approval for delivery of the courses in Queensland through an agent, the university must make an application in writing, and submit it to the Minister through the Office of Higher Education.
