A rollout of key ICT initiatives from 2007 will bring Smart Classrooms to all state schools.

The rollout will deliver the infrastructure and tools schools need to accelerate their use of ICT in learning.

Why rollout?

Schools are now educating a generation of students who are growing up in a digital world.

As the use of ICT continues to grow globally, students will increasingly demand an education that embraces ICT. To keep pace with students and today's world, teachers need ready access to computers as a tool of trade.

ICT is the staple ingredient in creating and using knowledge, requiring a change in the way teachers and students access, process and share information. New digital ways of connecting students and teachers with information and resources are needed.

This requires schools to shift to digital resources and online communication and collaboration tools. The Smart Classrooms rollout will underpin this shift.
