Strengthening support for Indigenous students

Partners for Success is the overall strategy for achieving the continuous improvement of education and employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Education Queensland.

The Department is presently conducting an overall evaluation of the Partners for Success program looking at all elements of Indigenous education in Queensland state schools.

In line with this policy of continuous improvement a project has begun to review, build and strengthen the capability of existing Indigenous education support structures.

We want to deliver improved educational outcomes for Indigenous students.

It is a two-staged project. The first stage involves a series of focus meetings with Indigenous support staff to hear what is working well, what isn't working so well, and ideas on what needs to be improved.

The project team will then take that information, identify the key common themes and issues, and invite further input from all stakeholders with an interest in improving education outcomes for Indigenous students.

We encourage you to share your knowledge and views with the project team.

During the first phase, the project team is conducting consultation forums in all regions. These face-to-face meetings began on 11 July and will continue until early August.

The team has also created a Learning Place project where you can provide input through a number of Blog discussions, or you may prefer to speak directly to the team through the partners4success@qed.qld.gov.au email.

You can keep up to date on progress with the project through the Partners for Success website and by joining the email distribution list.
