Charter

Education Queensland asked Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members and educators from around the state to help guide the implementation of the Partners for Success strategy.

During 2001, the Charter Taskforce developed a draft statewide charter for Partners for Success, which formed the basis for consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The charter included a statement of commitments Education Queensland made to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to guide the partnership process.

The Charter Taskforce also approved guidelines for the development of compacts between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and schools.

Since the Taskforce completed its work, a Charter Reference Group made up of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators and academics was established to monitor the strategy's implementation from 2000-02.

A copy of the original Community Consultation Paper and draft Charter are available for downloading.
