Queensland Studies Authority
(QSA) - on 1 July 2002 the Queensland Studies Authority replaced the:
QSA exercises portfolio-wide responsibilities for the development and approval of preschool guidelines and syllabuses for Years 1 to 12; determination of moderation procedures for school-based assessment; development and administration of tests such as the Years 3, 5 and 7 test and the QCS test; issuing of certificates of achievement such as the Senior Certificate; ranking of students for tertiary entrance and issuing of Tertiary Entrance Statements; and provision of information to the public about tertiary entrance procedures and post-school pathways.
QTAC
Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre - coordinates the selection of students into Queensland universities and some courses at some TAFE institutes.
Queensland Transport
- manages subsidies to railway, boat and private bus operators who transport students to and from school, and special provisions for eligible students with disabilities.
TAFE
Technical and Further Education - institutes that provide vocational subjects for school students and others.
