Currently primary aged students from overseas countries may access Queensland Government schools in one of the following ways:
This last option has been created in response to numerous requests from agents and parents wanting to enrol students in the final years of primary school. Students can enter the Primary Schooling Program in Year 6 or Year 7.
The schools provide English as a Second Language (ESL) support to students with language backgrounds other than English, as well as dedicated guidance officers and international student coordinators, who will assist in cross-cultural communication advice on education and school related subjects and general student life matters including: medical, extra curricular activities, visa/immigration and personal matters.
See EQI International Student Program Schools List for further information.
All students will receive intensive English support throughout their course of study if required.
Primary school students must reside with either their parent, aunt, uncle or grandparent. To ensure ongoing care and support of the student, EQI and the schools will monitor the residency status of the accompanying relative.
The minimum program length offered will be 6 months (2 terms).
Students may commence school at the beginning of any of the terms in Year 6 or in Term 1 (January) or Term 2 (April) in Year 7.
Program costs are listed on our fees page.
