Employment Opportunities

The Department of Education, Training and the Arts needs high achieving and skilled professionals who are dedicated, enthusiastic, flexible and team-orientated to teach in our schools. On average 1,500 new permanent teachers (including graduates) are employed each year and a significant number of other teachers are offered contract positions to accommodate the generous leave conditions offered to permanent employees.

All offers of employment are vacancy driven and aim to match school needs with individual 's expertise.

Considerable future demand is predicted in the following areas:

Queensland currently has more qualified primary teachers that it needs for permanent positions.

All teachers can increase their chances of employment by being willing to work in non-metropolitan areas, which can offer opportunities for valuable experience and advancement.

The Department considers casual and relief teachers a vital component of its workforce and encourages teachers to consider this as an employment option.
