Administrative Personnel

The non-teaching workforce consists of a variety of positions within the employment categories of base grade/ancillary positions and advertised promotional positions.

Conditions of Employment/Salary

Conditions of employment refers to entitlements and obligations as an employee of the Queensland Public Service. Some of the conditions under which individuals are employed may vary depending on the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement and the Award under which the person is employed. Administrative personnel of Education Queensland are covered by the following awards:

Salaries

Most employees of the department receive their fortnightly salary through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into the bank or building society account of their choice. Staff in remote locations may receive their salary by cheque.

Types of Employment

Base grade administrative/keyboard positions are at the AO2 level. Vacancies become available from time to time anywhere throughout the state and are usually advertised in the local press and school newsletter. Vacancies may be casual, temporary, part-time or permanent.

Ancillary positions are at the OO2 level, e.g. Teacher-Aides. Vacancies become available from time to time anywhere throughout the state. Ancillary vacancies are advertised in the local press and school newsletter, usually by the specific school in which the vacancy lies. Information on how to apply and where to lodge the application will also be advertised.

Further information can be provided by contacting the appropriate district office in which you wish to work.

Promotional administrative positions are at the AO3 to AO8 level, professional positions are at the PO2 to PO6 level, whilst technical positions are at the TO2 to TO6 level.

Workers' Compensation

Where an injury has occurred: during the course of employment; travel to or from that employment; or from an accident arising out of employment an employee may be entitled to claim workers' compensation.
