ETRF - Access to Pathways (SPL)

Purpose

Funds are to assist regions to:

  1. develop and implement innovative local initiatives that improve the participation, retention and attainment of 15-17 year old youth who are identified as 'at risk ' of disengaging from learning; and
  2. assist young people to fulfil their requirements under the YPET Act 2003 which:
    • makes it compulsory for young people to stay at school until they finish Year 10 or turn 16, whichever comes first;
    • requires young people to then participate in education and training for:
      • a further two years, or
      • until they have gained a Senior Certificate, or
      • until they have gained a Certificate III vocational qualification, or
      • until they have turned 17, and
    • provides exemptions for young people who enter full-time work after they have completed Year 10 or turned 16.

As per approved submissions and relevant service agreement and conditions of grant. An information kit providing further details and submission forms is available.

2006-07 to 2008-2009 (3 years)

Eligibility

Based on submissions from Education Queensland education regions. Funding recipient can include state schools, non-state schools, TAFE institutions, and, subject to eligibility criteria, other organisations including private training providers and community agencies and organisations interested in supporting the learning needs of 15 - 17 year old 'at risk ' youth.
