All young people in Queensland are entitled to a senior secondary education. And in the Smart State, government, schools and communities are expected to do everything within their power to ensure that each and every student takes up that entitlement. International research from the OECD concludes that those students who do not complete a full senior education and receive a certificate to attest to worthwhile learning have significantly reduced life chances.
The Senior Certificate Project was instigated in June 2001 to propose initiatives and reforms within the Senior Stage of Education to ensure that as many young people as possible take up their entitlement to a full senior secondary education.
The project was sponsored, funded and supported by Education Queensland with assistance from the Office of the Queensland Board of Senior Secondary School Studies.
