Fanfare is the state-wide festival of bands and orchestras from Queensland state schools.
This year's program will see over 27,500 instrumental music students from more than 420 schools participating in Fanfare 2016. Over 980 ensembles will perform in the regional festivals to be held across 48 regional centres.
Local communities are invited to attend and support the students' performances. For more information on the festival dates and venues, refer to the Regional Festival Schedule (PDF, 269KB).
For the first time in Fanfare history, there will be a separate primary grand final that will showcase the primary instrumental music program and provide equal opportunity for primary ensembles to be recognised. The primary ensemble deemed to give the best performance in the primary grand finals will open the Fanfare 2016 secondary grand final concert.
Through the regional finals to be held between 1-17 June 2016, five secondary ensembles and up to five primary ensembles will be selected to come to Brisbane to take part in the primary and secondary grand finals. The grand final concerts will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The primary grand final will be held on 18 August 2016 and the secondary grand final concert will be held on 19 August 2016.
